Too Faced Love Flush Blush Review

Posted on Sunday, 13 September 2015

There were some seriously exciting releases at Mecca last month, including the Too Faced Love Flush Long Lasting 16-Hour Blush. I first fell in love with the shade I Will Always Love You when I saw Kathleen from KathleenLights using it in a YouTube tutorial. Peachy-pink blushes provide a really beautiful flush on the cheeks - it is definitely my go-to shade for Summer.

The Too Faced Love Flush Blush claims to be long wearing, fade-proof and smudge proof. On the usual I have a hard time getting blush to wear well on my face. I'm not convinced about the 16-hour lasting power of this blush but it does look on the skin throughout the day. The blush is very pigmented with a beautiful sheen but no chunky glitter. This blush smells great... Random, I know but I had to smell it because the Too Faced Chocolate Bronzer smells delicious!

The packaging is really cute too - if I am paying more for a product I expect either unique- or great quality packaging. The blush retails at AU$38.00 for 6 grams and is available from Mecca.

Guilty of Being a Makeup Geek

Posted on Wednesday, 19 August 2015

I definitely consider myself a makeup fiend, but it is not until recently that I have been more regularly using eyeshadows. Purely for research purposes of course, I have been purchasing and playing around with more eyeshadows across a range of prices.  One brand that delivers, both in affordability and quality, are the Makeup Geek Eyeshadows. These shadows are renowned for being comparable in quality to MAC but at a fraction of the cost.

What really drew me to Makeup Geek, is that you can customise the shades in your palette. I have been wanting an eyeshadow palette dedicated to warm shades. All the Makeup Geek shades I bought have a red/orange undertone with a matte finish (which don't really make sense and the palette is definitely calling out for a few shimmery shades).

The individual eyeshadows retail at US$5.99 for 1.8 grams (as far as I know MAC pans are 1.5 grams). The eyeshadows are purchased individually, therefore you will need to purchase some sort of palette to house your shadows. I purchased the small Z Palette for US$14.99. This palette can hold up to nine shadows, although for my first order I only bought six shades to try. These include;

(from left to right in the swatch image)
Cocoa Bear - Matte Red-Brown Shade
Frappe - Matte Maple-Brown
Chickadee - Matte Orange
Preppy - Matte Khaki-Brown
Creme Brulee - Soft Matte Sandy-Red
Peach Smoothie - Soft Matte Peach-Beige

The quality of these shadows are really good considering the price. Although a little chalky, each shade blends well, doesn't cause fallout and lasts really well throughout the day when used with a primer. I think it's time I complete this palette with some shimmers. What are your favourite Makeup Geek eyeshadows?

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturiser Review

Posted on Sunday, 16 August 2015

I am constantly on the look-out for facial moisturisers to keep my easily-irritated skin under control. I have been using the Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturiser for nearly two months now and I am finally ready to share my thoughts with you.

Being on a student budget, I wouldn't easily drop $70 on a product without doing my research. Kate Somerville skincare products have a good reputation with some of the beauty YouTubers whose opinion I trust. So I reluctantly handed my credit card over at Mecca, in the hopes that this will be an amazing product.

Firstly, let's talk about the packaging. I love the semi-transparent purple colour and the sturdy plastic. The 50ml product takes up a lot of space on my dresser but I don't mind too much about it. To dispense the product, you press down on the surface and the liquid pumps out of an opening in the centre (better explained by the second image).

The moisturiser itself is suitable for sensitive or intolerant skin types for both AM and PM use. The goat milk cream is meant to moisturise deeply without clogging pores, while soothing the skin. The formula is more liquid and runny than I expected, it works best when applied in thin layers (half a pump at a time is best). The moisturiser does leave a residue and can look 'oily' for a while. However I use this under foundation daily and it works fine. Recently I have had severe dry patches and irritations on my face, and this moisturiser has been the best product I have found to help soothe my skin.
For anyone sensitive to  smell, this moisturiser is not for you. It does have a very strong scent, which according to my boyfriend 'stinks', but I have grown used to the smell and it doesn't bother me.

I use this moisturiser both in the morning and evening, I would highly recommend trying a sample from Mecca Maxima. Even at $70, this is a product I will repurchase. What other Kate Somerville products have you tried that is worth the $$$?

10 YouTube and Blog Accounts To Follow

Posted on Wednesday, 12 August 2015

Bloglovin is a fantastic platform where you can collate posts of all your favourite blogs and websites. It makes it really easy to keep up-to-date with the blogs you enjoy, plus you do not have to be a blogger to create an account.
Once you have your Bloglovin account, make sure to follow Oniochalasia by clicking here, or the Bloglovin icon on the left. To help you get through the last two working days of the week, I wanted to share my top five beauty bloggers and vloggers (YouTubers).

Based in London, Lily is one of my top YouTubers as she is really down-to-earth and relatable. I adore her monthly makeup menu's!

Also based in London and good friends with Lily. Anna is really fun to watch with such a happy demeanour. My favourite videos from Anna are probably her vlogs but I honestly love all Anna's videos.

Estee is a seriously funny, Canadian girl living in London. She posts amazing YouTube reviews and routines. But my favourite videos are the vlogs which feature her boyfriend, Aslan and greyhound, Reggie.

I am seriously envious of Amelia's luscious locks! Amelia's YouTube channel offers a bit of everything; luxe life in London, beauty, food, travel and fashion.

Suzie is from Brighton in the UK and makes amazing vlog videos. Suzie is such a classy girl and I love any of the videos she create; be it tutorials, reviews or routines.

Kathleen is a Miami girl pretty much a mini J-Lo. Her tutorials are the best I've watched. Her eyeshadow is always amazing, I wish I could do my makeup as well as she can.

This blog was established by Sarah, but has grown a lot recently. The website now has a few bloggers writing for it. I love how quickly content is put up and the in-depth reviews. The photos are beautiful. P.S Sarah has the CUTEST french bulldog, often featured on her Instagram.

UK-based, Sammi is such a genuine person and is lovely to watch. She has great style and the cutest puppies!

This Sydney based blog is not necessarily beauty focused but a must-read. Miss P shares her dating-, friend- and food-related experiences in a very Carrie Bradshaw-esque manner. Witty, funny and smart!

I love the beauty section of this website, especially the 'Pricey vs Priceline' tag that compares beauty products from different price ranges.

There are so many more amazing bloggers and YouTubers, but these are my ten current favourite people to watch/read. Let me know who you love!

August Beauty Wishlist

Beauty WIshlist

There are so many beauty products that I am dying to try this month! Hopefully my tax money will allow a bit of beauty-spending. The Tom Ford Cream & Powder Eye Colour in Naked Bronze is #1 on my list, with the YSL Blur Perfector a close second, thanks to Lily Pebbles.

Since before its release in Australia I have wanted to try the Clinique Color Pop range. The lipstick formula is perfect for the spring weather and the blushes look to be really long-lasting. Getting a sample of the YSL Fusion Ink Foundation is also high on my priority list once my skin irritation clears up. After recently trying Clarins products for the first time I am loving the brand, I am lusting after the Instant Light lip perfectors and soon-to-be-released lip balm perfectors. Finally, I am on the hunt for my perfect summer base and really want to try the Shiseido Liquid Foundation with high UV protection.

Soft Skin Beauty Hack

The Secret To soft Skin
To keep my skin soft and moisturised, I have recently been loving body oils. The Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil is a favourite when I want something a little more luxurious. But for everyday, I use regular Johnson's Baby Oil. The trick to avoiding a sticky residue is to apply a generous amount of oil to your body on wet skin, as soon as you get out of the shower. Use your towel to dry your body as normal and voila, baby soft skin and no sticky residue.

New Release Beauty: Clarins Garden Escape Collection & Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster

Posted on Friday, 31 July 2015

I previously perceived Clarins as a luxury beauty brand targeted predominantly to mature women. I was unconvinced that Clarins would have products to suit a twenty-something like myself, but was pleasantly surprised after receiving a few of their products to try. We all know how much I love my French skincare brands, so I was extremely excited when I found out the iconic brand is French. I now have a Clarins wishlist a mile long, the popular Instant Light Lip Perfectors being at the top of that list.

The Spring collection features eight new beauty releases all created to provide a fresh and luminous make up look (view the full collection here).

The product which created the most hype in the beauty world would have to be the new balm addition to the Instant Light lip products. The Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector, available in six shades, is a tinted, cream lip product that requires minimum fuss.

I am currently on a beauty hunt to find the perfect blush, which definitely attracted me to the new Blush Prodige in Sweet Rose. Marketed as a long-lasting formula with mineral and plant extracts to awaken your complexion, this product makes a perfect summer addition to any beauty-drobe. Finally my inner concealer junkie is totally excited about the Instant Light Brush-On Perfector, seemingly similar to the YSL Touche Eclat, without the hefty price tag.

Onto today's review; two new releases from this collection as well as the recently launched Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster for Body.
Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster for Body*
A year on from the release of the Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster for Face, Clarins has released the highly-requested formulation for the body. This product is a highly concentrated oil which you mix in with your usual daily moisturiser to achieve an adjustable gradual tan. I adore the packaging of this product, the copper tones looking very luxe and on trend. The 'dropper bottle' ensures the product is easy to use and doesn't create a mess. You simply tip the bottle upside down and press the bottom of the tube to release a drop of product. This product comes in a 30ml tube which retails for AU$42.00 and is now available for purchase in Australia.

Using this product for two consecutive nights I saw a visible tan colour appear on my skin. This booster provides a natural looking glow and colour to your skin, with no streaks or orange tones. I tested this formula on my face as well and it worked well and did not cause breakouts. The Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster will be a staple in my beauty routine this summer, for both my body and face.
Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil*
I'll be honest, when I first received these lip oils I was not expecting to like them. Turns out I love them!  Sticky or glossy formula's are not what I would usually apply to my lips. These oils, although slick, are not at all sticky and wear super comfortably on the lips. They come in two shades, although they are not at all pigmented; 01 Honey is sheer in colour and 02 Raspberry has the slightest berry-tone. What I love most about these is their delicious scent, they smell like candy. The packaging is small enough to throw in your beauty bag but still luxurious looking. The trick to these lip oils are to take the 'less is more' approach when applying. These contain 7ml of product and retail for AU$33.00.
Garden Escape Six-Colour Eye Palette*
The final product I have to talk about today, is one I was really excited to try. Just look at that luxurious  packaging! The compact is a good size for travel, sturdy and features a big mirror. To be honest, this is not a palette I would have picked up for myself, as I am much more of a bronze-eyeshadow girl. Never did I think I would like a pink shadow on my eyes. But after trying out different looks with these colours, I was surprisingly pleased. This is a great palette for spring, with the pink and green shadows combining really well. The shadows have a smooth, satin texture and a pearly finish. I haven't yet tried applying the shadows with a wet brush, which is likely to get a more pigmented finish. I think the Garden Escape Eye Palette would be perfect for Spring brides (or bridesmaids).

The whole Garden Escape collection is set to launch on Australian beauty counters on August 10, 2015. I would love to know what your favourite Clarins beauty products are?

My Top 7 Makeup Brushes

Posted on Sunday, 21 June 2015

Hello beauties, happy Sunday! Being a beauty junkie, I have too many makeup brushes in my collection. But I know, because we aren't all shopaholics, that is not the case for everyone. Today I thought I would share my most essential makeup brushes.
Real Techniques Powder Brush
This is my favourite brush that I own! I often wear a mineral powder as my base and this big fluffy brush allows super easy and quick application. What I like most is the large surface that this brush covers and the density that allows good coverage. Anyone with small facial features might not like this brush due to its large surface. It retails for AU$27.99 at Priceline but you can find Real Techniques brushes cheaper at iHerb.com.

Zoeva 104 Buffer
A dense buffing brush is ideal for blending in liquid foundation. It ensures even application and no harsh lines. I have bought all my Zoeva brush from Luxola.com (direct link here).

Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek
This curved brush works great to apply blush onto the apples of your cheeks but the shape fits perfectly into the hollows of your cheeks, making it ideal for applying bronzer too (direct link here).

Real Techniques Contour Brush (bought as part of the Core Collection Set)
This brush is sold in the 'Your Base Flawless Core Collection' containing four brushes and retailing for $AU47.50 at Priceline (once again, can be found cheaper at iHerb). I do not use this brush for contouring, but rather to apply concealer under my eyes. The domed shape fits perfectly in the inner corner between my eye and nose and works well to blend the concealer.

Zoeva 226 Smudger & Zoeva 227 Soft Definer
These two eyeshadow brushes can get you through various makeup looks. The Zoeva 226 Smudger (direct link here) has very short, stiff bristles and works best for packing eyeshadow onto the lid, it works especially well with pigments or shadows containing glitter. The Zoeva 227 Soft Definer (direct link here) is the brush I use for blending shadow through the crease. It has just the right consistency to evenly apply the eyeshadow but still blend well.

There are many more great brushes and tools for applying makeup but these are just a few of my essentials. Let me know if you own any of these brushes and what your most-used makeup brush is?

Mecca Cosmetica Jet Set Travel Bag

Posted on Wednesday, 17 June 2015

I first discovered the great invention that is a 'double-sided makeup bag' in a Lily Pebbles' video. After an online-hunt, I found the exact Omorovicza bag on Feel Unique. Unfortunately $150 is not in my budget, so imagine my excitement when I discovered the Mecca Cosmetica Jet Set Travel Bag.
The idea behind these 'double-sided makeup bags' (as I have dubbed it) is a clear panelled cosmetic bag with two compartments on opposite sides and a divider in between. It is transparent to meet regulations for taking liquids on a flight. From my measurements, the bag is about 22cm x 12cm with an overall depth of 9cm. The first compartment allows for larger products with a depth of 5cm, while the second compartment is for less bulky products at about a 3cm depth.

The Mecca Cosmetica Jet Set Travel Bag features black patent material with beautiful rose gold zips and detailing. The bag itself retails for AU$50, which is pricey for a beauty bag but is a great addition for beauty lovers who travel often. It would also make a beautiful gift.
I am looking forward to using this bag for my Melbourne trip next week. It is available for AU$50 online at Mecca Cosmetica (here) or you can ask at your local Mecca Maxima or Cosmetica (make sure to ask as it might be kept off the sale floor). Alternatively his bag also comes in a collection with a few Mecca Cosmetica travel skincare products for AU$110 which you can buy here.

Do you have any beauty or storage travel tips to share? To any Melbourne readers, I'd love some recommendations of places to see or where to eat in the CBD. Don't forget to follow @oniochalasiablog on Instagram to keep up with all things happening at https://instagram.com/oniochalasiablog/.

New Release L'Oreal Colour Riche Exclusive Reds

Posted on Sunday, 14 June 2015

Welcome back beauties! Any regular readers here would have noticed that My Oniochalasia has been seriously lacking content the past month. A busy University and work schedule has caused a lack in both time and motivation for writing. Luckily a friend has recently reassured me that there is in fact someone out there who cares about these beauty ramblings. So here I am, back in action and ready to share so many new finds and loves with you all.

Today I have a really exciting review of the new L'Oreal limited edition collection. This collection of sophisticated matte red lipsticks has a shade to suit every women. As with the exclusive nudes collection, each shade is created to specifically complement the diverse skin tones of six L'Oreal ambassadors; Eva Longoria, Freida Pinto, Jennifer Lopez, Doutzen Kroes, Blake Lively and Laetitia Casta. Each lip colour is also released with a complimentary-colour nail lacquer.
The packaging is gorgeous! The combination of a slightly textured leopard-print (on the black area) and gold detailing creates a luxurious feel. Despite being a matte texture, the lipsticks apply smoothly. I would recommend using a lip liner and lip brush for the application, as the shape of the lipstick's tip does not allow for perfect application.
As with the previously released Nude collection, Eva's red is my favourite colour. L'Oreal describes this one as an 'urban chic brick-red'.  To me, it is a 'sexy' red which compliments well with an olive-skin undertone and green eyes. Paired with a leather jacket and jeans for a date night.
Freida's red is the most pink-toned in the collection, with a fuchsia undertone. The texture of this shade is more matte and not as creamy to apply, but very opaque. I am pleasantly surprised with how this shade translates the my lips.
JLo's shade is a dark ruby red. The very creamy texture makes this shade hard to apply out of the tube. This glam red will instantly transform your look from day to night.
The poppiest of reds, Doutzen's shade is a blazing tangerine. This is a great lip colour for a pop of colour, but the formula is not as opaque as the other reds and requires a few coats reapplied. This shade is my least favourite as it does not compliment my skin tone.
L'Oreal describes this shade as a classic pure red, which Blake Lively is known for rocking on the red carpet. This shade is almost a mix between Eva's 'brick-red' and JLo's ruby tone. Although more matte and harder to apply than both those colours, Blake's red is very opaque. Despite how the swatches look, the nail lacquer compliments the lip colour very well!
Finally, Laetitia's red is the most 'vampy' out of the bunch. A beautiful garnet red, perfect for winter. This shade is definitely the hardest to pull off and apply, as it can apply patchy. Applied with a lip brush and a matching lip liner, this shade can look seriously seductive.

There are some great shades in this collection and I think everyone will be able to find a match. If you are unsure which shade would best suit you head in-store and swatch the colours or leave me a comment with your features and I'll try to recommend a shade.
This collection is set to be released in Australia in July this year, but has been spotted in stores now. The lipstick will retail for AU$21.95, with the nail lacquers retailing at AU$7.95. The collection will be available at selected pharmacies, supermarkets and department stores. Let me know which shade is your favourite!

I was sent these lipsticks by L'Oreal Paris but all opinions remain my own. This is not a paid advertorial.
